Background on this item -
Sir Thomas Beecham, 2nd Baronet, CH (29 April 1879 – 8 March 1961) was an English conductor and impresario best known for his association with the London Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonic orchestras. He was also closely associated with the Liverpool Philharmonic and Hallé orchestras. From the early 20th century until his death, Beecham was a major influence on the musical life of Britain and, according to the BBC, was Britain's first international conductor.

Born to a rich industrial family, Beecham began his career as a conductor in 1899. He used his access to the family fortune to finance opera from the 1910s until the start of the Second World War, staging seasons at Covent Garden, Drury Lane and His Majesty's Theatre with international stars, his own orchestra and a wide repertoire. Among the works he introduced to England were Richard Strauss's Elektra, Salome and Der Rosenkavalier and three operas by Frederick Delius.

Together with his younger colleague Malcolm Sargent, Beecham founded the London  Philharmonic, and he conducted its first performance at the Queen's Hall in 1932. In the 1940s, he worked for three years in the United States, where he was music director of the Seattle Symphony and conducted at the Metropolitan Opera. After his return to Britain, he founded the Royal Philharmonic in 1946 and conducted it until his death in 1961.

Beecham's repertoire was eclectic, sometimes favouring lesser-known composers over famous ones. His specialities included composers whose works were neglected in Britain before he became their advocate, such as Delius and Berlioz. Other composers with whose music he was frequently associated were Haydn, Schubert, Sibelius and the composer he revered above all others, Mozart.

Love in Bath is a suite of music compiled in 1945 from the music of George Frederic Handel by the British conductor Sir Thomas Beecham for a ballet entitled The Great Elopement.

Set in 18th-century Bath, the ballet depicts the love affair between the playwright Richard Brinsley Sheridan and Elizabeth Linley (daughter of the composer Thomas Linley), all presided over by the famous dandy Beau Nash.

The music is mostly taken from Handel's operas Rodrigo, Serse, Ariodante and Il pastor fido.

CONDITION Details:
The JACKET:
The LP jacket is in near MINT minus condition.
The jacket has a small seam split at the bottom seam, otherwise it is completely intact and only shows some shelf wear, primarily along the seams and corners.
It has NO drill holes or saw marks of any kind - see pictures with this listing for a better understanding of the condition of this item.
There is NO hand writing on the front of the jacket, but the back has a name written in pencil that can likely be erased (see point above).
The cover has clean and sharp colors - see picture with this listing for more detail.

The LP (vinyl) itself:
The LP is in near MINT minus condition!
It retains most of the original gloss and sheen!
The record has no serious marks on it, obviously well taken care of.
NO significant spindle marks either - just a couple of light ones.
This is the copy you have always wanted in your collection - any picky collector should be happy with this one!
This LP may have a slight mark or two (spider marks) which are caused by sliding the LP in and out of the inner sleeve and are usually not audible on most audio systems, depending of course, on the sensitivity of your turntable, arm and cartridge.

Please understand that this is a vintage record LP - as such, one cannot expect the vinyl to sound like a brand new, audiophile pressing! Some noise is inevitable - for best results, always properly clean your LPs before playing them.

The LP is an audiophile quality pressing (any collector of fine MFSL, half speeds, direct to discs, Japanese/UK pressings etc., can attest to the difference a quality pressing can make to an audio system).
